Keynote speech to focus on state’s role in Obamacare

More than 800 people have signed up for a free public lecture Tuesday on the Affordable Care Act.

The program at the University of Saint Francis Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St., is geared toward business, human resources and health care administrators and workers.

The program is from 1 to 4 p.m. and is part of Saint Francis’ “Future of” lecture series. Other sponsors include Lutheran Health Network, Parkview Health and Physicians Health Plan.

The keynote speaker will be Blayne Miley, director of policy and advocacy for the Indiana State Nursing Association.

Breakout sessions will be offered on the effects of the Affordable Care Act on health care practioners and on employers, businesses and human resources.

About 200 people who registered are planning to watch and listen online, according to Trois Hart, associate vice president of marketing for Saint Francis.

The registration deadline for the webinar is Monday. The registration deadline for the breakout session for health care practioners is today. Registration is available at futureofhealthcare2014.eventbrite.com

Hart said advance registration is not required to attend Miley’s speech or the breakout session for employers and human resources professionals.

Miley will talk about Indiana’s approach to Medicaid expansion and medical insurance marketplaces and the terminology associated with the health care law.
