I&M officials warn of email scam

Indiana Michigan Power officials warn customers to take caution before opening emails as a result of a nationwide email phishing campaign that has affected at least six utility companies.

The scam sends emails that appear to come from a utility company, but when recipients click on the email link, it can make their computer vulnerable to information and identity theft, according to a release from I&M.

The scam has affected companies' employees and customers, including at least one I&M customer.
