  • Meijer agrees to pay $2 million civil penalty
    The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today that Meijer, Inc., of Grand Rapids, Mich., has agreed to pay a $2 million civil penalty for distributing recalled consumer products.
  • Wawaka railroad crossing closed
    The railroad crossing on Noble County Road 300 West in Wawaka is closed until Friday, according to Noble County Emergency Management. A reason wasn’t given for the closure.

Ivy Tech director retiring Jan. 31

– James Aschliman, executive director of the Ivy Tech Corporate College for northeast Indiana, will retire Jan. 31.

Aschliman has served Ivy Tech Community College Northeast for more than 27 years, working as director of student support and advising services and executive director of operations for Workforce and Economic Development, which later became Ivy Tech Corporate College.

In his current position, Aschliman oversees the college’s partnerships with local workforce agencies in the nine-county region.
