IU hopeful Sheehey will be back Sunday

– Indiana basketball coach Tom Crean is hopeful his team will be at full strength when the Hoosiers (12-7, 2-4 Big Ten) play host to Illinois (13-7, 2-5) on Sunday.

IU was without senior forward Will Sheehey in Tuesday?s 71-66 loss at No. 3 Michigan State. Sheehey injured his ankle in a 54-47 loss to Northwestern last Saturday, but he practiced Thursday.

?I?m not able to say if he is ahead of schedule or behind it, but I think having him out there was a real good thing,? Crean said during a Friday teleconference. ?He just didn?t do very much, but he did some non-contact stuff and things of that nature, so we will see how it goes over the next few days. I think after yesterday that we would be hopeful.?

Sheehey started the first 18 games this season, averaging 10.4 points and 4 rebounds.

Austin Etherington made his first start for IU, taking the place of Sheehey against Michigan State. The sophomore scored three points and had three rebounds in 19 minutes in the loss.
