Two die in Defiance County crash

Two people were killed in a vehicle crash late Sunday morning on State Route 66 north of Banner School Road in Defiance County.

A 2002 Jeep Wrangler driven by Lucas J. Carnahan was southbound on State Route 66 about 11:30 a.m. when Carnahan lost control and went left of center, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The Jeep was struck broadside by a northbound 2004 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck. Both vehicles came to rest on the east side of the road.

Carnahan, 25, and his passenger, Constance M. Gray, 23, both of Defiance, were killed. The pickup driver, Bradley E. Bodenbender, 20, of Bryan, received minor injuries, according to a statement from the Highway Patrol

Gray and Bodenbender were wearing seat belts, but Carnahan was not, the Patrol said. The crash remains under investigation by the Defiance Patrol Post.
