Coyle leading the way

Late in the first period at Memorial Coliseum, the Komets lead the Elmira Jackals 2-0.

Defenseman Jace Coyle has both the goals.

He scored during a power play at 7:22 from a difficult angle in the left circle. It was Fort Wayne's third goal in its last 41 power plays.

And at 11:30, his shot from just inside the blue line got past goalie Neil Conway.

By the way, I was reminded in the press box tonight that before the season, I wrote that I expected the Komets to struggle a lot in the first half because of chemistry, then take off in the second half en route to the conference finals.

Maybe, just maybe, that was prophetic?
