  • Irish get the message
INDIANAPOLIS – Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly didn’t scream at his players during halftime at Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday night. That wouldn’t have been him.

Irish name offensive coordinator

– Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly has his offensive staff in place.

Kelly officially announced the promotion of Mike Denbrock to offensive coordinator Thursday.

The move had been expected after Denbrock was the Irish’s interim offensive coordinator for the team’s 29-16 win over Rutgers in the Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 28 at Yankee Stadium.

Denbrock, who has been Notre Dame’s outside receivers coach and passing game coordinator the last two seasons, replaced Chuck Martin, who left to become the head coach at Miami (Ohio).

Denbrock will continue to coach the outside receivers next season.

Kelly named Matt LaFleur the quarterbacks coach at Notre Dame last Friday.
