A Warsaw woman and her boyfriend were charged Thursday with burglary after the woman’s grandmother reported that her house had been ransacked and that multiple items, including a gun, were missing.
On Wednesday, Warsaw police officers went to the woman’s home. A hidden spare key had been used to enter the home, which led detectives to family members, police said.
Police detectives questioned the woman’s granddaughter, Alexis Henry, 18, and learned that she and her boyfriend, Ritchie Hernandez Jr., 21, both of Warsaw, had entered the home to steal prescription medications.
Once inside, police said, they took checkbooks, money, gift cards, purses, a mini-fridge and the Smith & Wesson handgun, among other items. Henry was charged with felony burglary of a dwelling and theft. She was being held in the Kosciusko County Jail in lieu of $2,000 bail.
Hernandez was charged with felony burglary to a dwelling, possession of an altered handgun and theft.
He also had a warrant for failure to appear for a traffic violation in Marshall County. Hernandez was being held without bail at the Kosciusko County Jail.
