Burgett could return for Notre Dame men's basketball

Notre Dame could have forward Austin Burgett back for the Irish’s home game against North Carolina on Saturday.

Coach Mike Brey said during a Thursday press conference that the 6-foot-9 forward has been able to ride a stationary bike and run on a treadmill as he tries to come back after having a procedure to correct an irregular heartbeat Jan. 30.

Burgett, who is averaging 3.5 points and 2.4 rebounds hasn’t played in the last four games after experiencing an abnormally fast heartbeat in a 76-74 loss at Florida State on Jan. 21.

“He’s going to go through kind of a partial practice today,” Brey said. “The plan is to go full barrel in practice tomorrow and be available to play on Saturday, if there is no setbacks.

“He is feeling good and his frame of mind is very positive. I feel very good about where he is at.”
