For the second straight game, a Komets player had a hat trick in a victory.
This time, it was Mike Embach, who netted three goals in a 4-2 victory over his former team, the Cincinnati Cyclones, in front of 2,235 fans at U.S. Bank Arena on Wednesday night.
Embach led the Cyclones in playoff scoring last season, but he didn't see eye to eye with the new coach there, Ben Simon, and was traded to Gwinnett and then to Fort Wayne during this season.
Since joining the Komets (22-14-10), Embach has seven goals and eight points in four games against the Cyclones (26-18-2).
He scored 19:31 into the first period for a 1-0 lead and 5:22 into the third period for a 2-1 lead. After teammate Brandon Marino made it 3-1 at 5:58, Cincinnati's Phil Bushbacher answered at 8:00.
Embach scored a short-handed empty-net goal at 18:39 to cement Fort Wayne's third straight victory. Chris Auger had a hat trick in Sunday's 5-2 victory over Kalamazoo.
The Komets are 7-1-2 in their last 10.
Fort Wayne goaltender Ben Meisner had 23 saves. Cincinnati's Rob Madore had 23, too.
The Komets play host to the Cyclones at Memorial Coliseum on Friday night.
