Jimmy Fallon’s start as host of “The Tonight Show” is a ratings winner for NBC.

Nielsen company figures released Tuesday show 11.3 million people tuned in to watch Fallon’s New York debut on Monday night.

It was the second-biggest audience for “Tonight” since May 2009, when Jay Leno stepped down for Conan O’Brien’s brief run as host.

Fallon’s “Tonight” debut fell short of the 14.6 million who tuned in Feb. 6 to see Leno sign off, again, after 22 years as host in Burbank.

Media want videos

The Associated Press and other media outlets urged a judge Tuesday to grant access to police videos made shortly after pop singer Justin Biebe r’s arrest last month on driving under the influence and other charges.

The news organizations said in a motion filed in Miami-Dade County court that the 19-year-old has no legal basis to prevent release of the videos, taken at the Miami Beach police station after he was booked Jan. 23. Bieber’s attorneys have asked a judge to allow them to review the videos before their potential release.

NBC’s “Today” show has won ratings gold for the first time since the London Olympics in 2012.
