North Side boys stay focused

Success has come this year for the back-to-back SAC regular-season champion North Side, which has won the most games for the program since 1998-99 (21-4).

But the practice of resetting goals has gone a long way in keeping the Redskins grounded.

“Being a very senior-laden and goal-oriented group has helped out tremendously,” North Side coach Shabaz Khaliq said. “They haven’t sat back and patted themselves on the back because they haven’t accomplished what they want to. We try to set short-term goals so we can keep their focus. I have been blessed with a group of kids who get it and get the big picture.”

North Side will face Snider a third time in the first round of the East Noble Class 4A sectional March 4 after beating the Panthers 68-46 and 54-51 this year.
