Pedestrian struck in Lima Road crash identified

The woman struck by a vehicle on Lima Road about 6:15 a.m. Saturday has been identified, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Jennifer A. Kump, 41, of Fort Wayne, died from blunt force trauma in the crash, which was ruled an accident, the coroner's office said in a statement.

Kump had been walking in one of the traffic lanes on Lima Road between Progress and Production roads, a section of the road that does not have sidewalks, police have said.

They said she was wearing dark clothing, it was dark outside and the driver of the car did not see her.

Kump died at the scene. Her death is the second traffic fatality in Fort Wayne and Allen County during 2014, the statement said.

It remains under investigation by city police, the FACT Team, the coroner's office and the county prosecutor's office.
