Hoosiers announce spring roster

The loss of four players was among the spring roster updates Indiana football coach Kevin Wilson revealed Friday afternoon.

Defensive end Ryan Phillis graduated and will work as a student coach. Cornerback Brian Williams graduated. Defensive tackle Alex Todd left the team for medical reasons, and wide receiver Anthony Young chose to focus on track.

The Hoosiers have a 104-man spring roster consisting of 63 scholarship players and 41 walk-ons.

They are scheduled for the first of 15 spring practices Saturday and will play their spring game April 12.

Converting to safety are linebacker Kris Smith and receiver Ty Smith.

Indiana announced Danny Banks, Dylan Banks and Derek Driver – all defensive players – as mid-year walk-ons.

Several significant players will be initially limited by injuries in practice, including safety Antonio Allen, tight end Anthony Corsaro, right guard Dan Feeney, offensive lineman Ralston Evans, safety Mark Murphy and left guard Bernard Taylor.

Also on the injury report: linebacker Steven Funderburk, receiver Ricky Jones and offensive lineman David Kaminsky.
