Lenten programs

Auburn First United Methodist Church, 1203 E. Seventh St., Auburn, will have a communitywide men’s Lenten breakfast series at 6:30 a.m. Fridays through April 11.

Congregational Christian Church, North Manchester, will discuss the topic, “If Jesus was God, Why Did He Have to Die” during the Lent season at 7 p.m. Wednesdays through April 9. For information, call 260-982-2882.

First Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Wayne St., will explore “Earth Care” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays through April 9. A catered supper will be served at 5:30 p.m. for $6.50. Reservations are required, call 426-7421.

Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 W. Berry St., will discuss “Practical Compassion and Forgiveness for an Angry World” during Lent at 6 p.m. Wednesdays through April 9. A brown bag dinner will follow.

•County Line Church of God, 7716 N. County Line Road, Auburn, will conduct an adoption conference from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 15. Tickets are $20 a person or $35 a couple. For information, go to

•Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave., will host The Northmen and Cathy in concert at 6 p.m. March 15. The program will also feature Jim Sheldon, the Blue Jean Band and former Northmen members. A love-offering will be accepted.

•Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W. Berry St., will sponsor “Using Energy Prudently,” a workshop by Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light, from 2 to 5 p.m. today. To register for the free workshop, go to

Jeannie Opdyke Smith will present her mother’s story during “Irene Gut Opdyke: Righteous Among the Nations” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University of Saint Francis, Brookside Ballroom, 2701 Spring St. The Jewish Federation of Fort Wayne is sponsoring this free program.

•Victory Noll Center, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, with Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministry and the Huntington County Veterans Service Office, will host a retreat for female military veterans from Friday through March 16.
