3 Notre Dame women's players earn ACC honors

Notre Dame had three women's basketball players honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference coaches Monday.

Guards Jewell Loyd and Kayla McBride each earned spots on the All-ACC first team, and forward Natalie Achonwa was named to the second team. McBride was also named to the coaches' All-ACC defensive team.

Loyd started 31 games this season, missing one because of injury, and averaged 18.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 steals.

McBride has started all 32 games, averaging 17.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists.

Achonwa, who missed the first three games this season while recovering from knee surgery, started 29 games and averaged 14.1 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.1 blocks.

The conference will unveil the coaches' choices for Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Freshman of the Year on Tuesday.
