Atkins, Connaughton earn recognition

Notre Dame senior guard Eric Atkins earned All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition on Monday.

Atkins was named to the All-ACC third team in a vote by the coaches and was an honorable mention for the All-ACC team voted on by the media.

Atkins led Notre Dame in scoring with 13.9 points per game and assists with 4.8 per game.

Junior guard Pat Connaughton was an honorable mention by the coaches. He was second on the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game and averaged 7.2 rebounds and three assists.

The Irish (15-16) open play in the ACC tournament against Wake Forest (16-15) on Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C., with the winner playing No. 5 seed Pitt (23-8) on Thursday.
