NY prosecutors: 2 plotted to torture, kill women
The defense says the men shared vile fantasies no more real than horror movies or violent pornography.
Closing arguments began Tuesday in the trial of librarian Christopher Asch and auto mechanic Michael Van Hise.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Hadassa (hah-DAH'-sah) Waxman says the men scouted body-dumping locations and Van Hise sent Asch photos of possible targets and home information. She also says Asch bought a stun gun, a whip and handcuffs.
The case grew from an investigation involving a policeman accused of plotting cannibalism.
Defense lawyer Alice Fontier (fahn-tee-AY') says Van Hise just sprinkled morbid fetishes with true-to-life details.
