Greater Fort Wayne Inc. today unveiled a marketing campaign built around the theme: What do you stand for?
“Today, we want the greater Fort Wayne community to know that we stand for a greater future,” the non-profit organization said in a news release.
Officials have scheduled a news conference for 9 a.m. at its downtown office at 200 E. Main St., Suite 800, to present the branding effort, which has been teased for the past month on 10 local billboards.
Greater Fort Wayne, often abbreviated GFW, was formed in spring 2013 with the merger of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
The Downtown Improvement District is in talks to work jointly with the organization.
GFW’s goal is to create a common vision and speak with one voice when talking to employers about investments and job creation within Allen County.
To encourage feelings of ownership by local businesses, GFW is now calling dues-paying companies investors instead of members. Officials said the new terminology makes clear that businesses support the community as a whole rather than merely one organization.
Mark Becker, the city’s former deputy mayor, is the organization’s first CEO. John Urbahns, formerly Fort Wayne’s community development director, is executive vice president of economic development.
A former alliance official, Karl Bandemer, was hired last year to replace Becker as deputy mayor.
