INDIANAPOLIS – Mayor Greg Ballard is set to announce a new plan to reduce violence in Indianapolis in a year on track to beat last year’s count.
Ballard and other leaders are scheduled to announce the plan Wednesday morning at the Washington Park Family Center.
A news release says Ballard and the others will “issue a call to end the violence and identify ways to help young people in Indy make positive choices.”
Indianapolis had experienced more than 25 homicides before the end of February. The city of 885,000 residents is on track to break last year’s count – 125 homicides, the most in seven years.
This year’s current count includes one incident in which four people were slain.
