Purdue to hold reunion for NASA astronaut alumni

– Purdue University has invited alumni who have served as astronauts on NASA missions to return to campus for a reunion and a public forum next month.

Among those invited to the events are Eugene Cernan, the last of the 12 men to walk on the moon, and Jerry Ross, the first person to launch into space seven times. Purdue has had 23 graduates become astronauts, including the late Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon.

The events next month will include eight of the astronauts taking part in the April 12 forum, “A Conversation with Our Astronauts.” The astronauts also will be introduced at halftime of the spring football scrimmage. On April 10 and 11, the astronauts will be on campus, meeting with students and faculty.
