Notre Dame loses 2 players for rest of spring

SOUTH BEND – Notre Dame offensive lineman Christian Lombard and receiver Will Mahone will miss rest of spring practice because of injuries, coach Brian Kelly announced in a release Friday.

Lombard suffered a dislocated right wrist Wednesday and had surgery Thursday, the university said. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound fifth-year senior was working at right guard with the first team offense and was replaced at the end of Wednesday's practice by Conor Hanratty.

Mahone is making the move from running back to fulltime receiver. He had surgery to repair a fracture in his right foot March 6, according to the university.
