  • Postgame reaction, video from Komets 3-2 victory
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- I'm not going to say these have been the best three games I've seen the Komets play to start a season -- and I've covered 18 seasons -- but this has to be the most exciting season-opening set I've seen.
  • Komets beat Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In what had become a heated game, Shawn Szydlowski capped a 3-2 overtime victory for the Komets on Friday by stealing the puck in the Kalamazoo Wings zone and then sending a wrist shot past the goal with 49 seconds remaining.
  • Penalty shot foiled, K's tied at 2
KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Komets and Kalamazoo Wings are tied at 2 after two periods at Wings Stadium.
Led by rookie goalies, K's win

Matt Grogan and Kevin Murdock made their debuts, as the Komets defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 2-1 on March 21, 2014. Mike Embach's goal included.

Musing on K's goalies

The quote of the night, after the Komets' 2-1 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators, came from Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock:

"As soon as Grogan came out, I thought, it's musical chairs for our goalies. That's four goalies in two games, just ring-around-the-rosy," Komets captain Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock said. "But it takes a lot of courage to tell the coach he was cramping up. That's hard to do as a youngster. But we're glad he did it and Murdock came up big."

Matt Grogan stopped 23 of 24 shots before leaving with cramps. Kevin Murdock stopped all four shots he faced.

There's a chance that Ben Meisner is back in the lineup Saturday against Kalamazoo, coach Gary Graham said, after he was cleared by both a cardiologist and a neurologist.

They are going to leave it up to Meisner and how he feels, as to when he gets back on the ice.
