Yvonne M. Broadnax

Phone records car robbery, IDs suspect

Thirty-seven-year-old Yvonne M. Broadnax wanted a ride March 12. So a motorist picked her up because the weather was bad, court records said.

But as they neared the intersection of Pontiac Street and Anthony Boulevard, Broadnax asked to be dropped off. As she got out of the car, Broadnax grabbed the woman’s purse, hollering at her to let it go or she would “cut” her, court records said.

Broadnax fled with the purse. But the woman’s cellphone had been recording the weather on the dashboard of her car and caught much of the robbery, including Broadnax’s face. The victim later picked Broadnax out from a photo array, court records said.

Broadnax, of the 2500 block of Euclid Avenue, is charged with robbery.

She had not been arrested as of Thursday evening.
