Award/recognition

The American Heart Association announced that Carolyn Spake-Leeper of Fort Wayne will be this year’s Go Red for Women Luncheon chairwoman. The luncheon is Nov. 13.

Giving back

•The group 100+ Women Who Care donated $12,000 to SCAN for an upgrade to its visitation room for the Family Preservation program.

•Third-grader Cassidy Oliver collected food and $1,231 to help feed families at the Central Noble Food Pantry in Albion. Her efforts were part of her birthday wish to help others.

Wal-Mart Foundation gave $46,822 to Feeding Indiana’s Hungry, which includes Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana.
