Indiana women advance in WNIT

IU advances in WNIT

The Indiana women’s basketball team beat Big Ten rival Northwestern 66-65 in the third round of the WNIT on Thursday in Bloomington.

Simone Deloach gave IU its first lead on a layup with 11 seconds left.

The Hoosiers (21-12) outscored the Wildcats (17-16) 31-24 in the second half after trailing 41-35 at halftime. The Hoosiers trailed the Wildcats by 14 points.

IU plays at South Dakota State (25-9) at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The 21 victories by IU tied a school record for single-season wins.

Larryn Brooks had 27 points for IU, while Alexis Gassion and Lyndsey Leiken each added 10.
