Driver flipped, run over by his 4 wheeler

A driver of an all-terrain vehicle was treated for injuries after he was thrown over the handlebars and run over by it, Indiana DNR conservation officers reported Sunday.

The victim, Drake A. Crosby, 25, of Fort Wayne, was driving in a field along the 3900 block of County Road 35 in DeKalb County around 7 p.m. Saturday when he hit a bump in the field and was thrown over the handlebars.

Crosby was then run over by the machine, and he was not wearing a helmet, the statement said. He suffered cuts on his face and was taken to Dekalb Memorial Hospital and then to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment. He has been released, the statement said.

Conservation officers remind everyone to operate off-road vehicles at a safe speed and to wear proper safety equipment, including a helmet.
