1 injured when run over by ATV

A driver of an all-terrain vehicle was treated for injuries after he was run over by the ATV, Indiana conservation officers reported Sunday.

Drake A. Crosby, 25, of Fort Wayne, was driving in a field along the 3900 block of County Road 35 in DeKalb County about 7 p.m. Saturday when he hit a bump in the field and was thrown over the handlebars.

Crosby was then run over by the vehicle. He was not wearing a helmet, according to a release from the Indiana DNR.

He suffered cuts on his face and was taken to DeKalb Memorial Hospital and then to Parkview Regional Medical Center for treatment. He has been released, the statement said.

Conservation officers remind everyone to operate off-road vehicles at a safe speed and to wear proper safety equipment, including a helmet.
