READING, Pa. -- Only nine goals have been scored in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series between the Komets and Reading Royals, which is tied at 1. Two of those goals were into empty nets.
But no one is surprised. After all, these are the playoffs, and defense usually wins.
"You can see it's just tight," said coach Gary Graham, whose Komets won the opener 2-1 on Thursday and lost 4-2 on Saturday, with the series now headed back to Memorial Coliseum for Thursday's Game 3.
"You look at their lineup over there with all the (American Hockey League) experience and offensive firepower, but it's still just tight and that's what the playoffs are. It's what's to be expected. There's good goaltending and the teams are defending well."
