Winona Lake resident held in sexual assault of girl, 17

Michael J. Elliot

A Winona Lake man was arrested Tuesday on a rape charge after a teenager told police he sexually assaulted her this month.

Michael J. Elliot, 50, was charged with rape and sexual battery after a 17-year-old girl arrived at Kosciusko Community Hospital and told police what happened April 6, the Warsaw Police Department said.

Early that morning, police went to the hospital on a report that a girl who had just arrived was raped.

The girl told police that Elliot forced himself on her at her Warsaw home.

Elliot was being held Tuesday in lieu of $50,000 bail.
