Juvenile detained in garage blaze

A juvenile was arrested Monday afternoon after an investigation into a fire that destroyed a detached garage earlier that day.

About 10:15 a.m., the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to a fire at a car garage at 2902 Barr St.

Firefighters quickly put out the fire but four nearby buildings suffered heat damage, the fire department said.

Investigators determined the blaze was intentionally set and witnesses reported there was someone acting suspiciously in the area before the fire started.

Based on the descriptions provided, Fort Wayne and Allen County police detained and questioned a juvenile in connection with the blaze.

The fire department said the juvenile will be processed through the Allen County Juvenile Center and the investigation remains ongoing.
