Rethlake remembers little

HUNTINGTON – Erin Rethlake said she doesn’t remember much immediately after the incident that caused her concussion two weekends ago.

The Huntington North senior pitcher collided with a teammate going for a popup and fell backward, hitting her head hard on the ground.

Rethlake said she was passed out for about 10 minutes.

“All I remember is them asking how I was, and I said OK,” Rethlake said before the Vikings’ 2-0 loss to Class 2A No. 1 Lakewood Park on Monday.

Rethlake had a recent visit to the doctor and hoped she would be cleared to play against the Panthers and their outstanding pitcher, Mikeila Boroff. The doctor laughed at Rethlake when asked if she could be released in time for the game Monday.

She is now hoping for a release to return to the field Wednesday.
