  • This is wild
TOLEDO, Ohio – It’s been a wild game at the Huntington Center, where the Komets just scored three unanswered goals in the span of 1 minute, 5 seconds, to tie it at 3 after one period.

In case you're wondering ...

The last non-affiliated team to win the ECHL championship was Atlantic City in 2003. The last independent team to make the Kelly Cup Finals was Las Vegas in 2012.

The Komets are the only independent team still in the playoffs. They are tied at 1 with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals, which continue Thursday at Memorial Coliseum.

The ECHL's only other independent teams, Las Vegas and Colorado, were eliminated in the first round and combined to win only two playoff games.

I'm going to have a story Tuesday on affiliations and their impact on the Komets series.
