Man dead from gunshot ID’d

A Fort Wayne man who died from a gunshot wound was identified Monday, but details about his death remain unclear, police said.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting at 12:25 a.m. Saturday in the 7200 block of Lakeridge Drive and found Alexander T. Freeman suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Freeman, 23, was pronounced dead at the scene, but the manner of death remains undetermined, according to a statement from the Allen County coroner.

The shooting remains under investigation, but foul play is not suspected, according to the statement.

According to the coroner, there are five manners of death in Indiana: homicide, suicide, accidental, natural and undetermined.
