Mom gets 18 months for faking 4-year-old’s cancer

NEWARK, Ohio – A central Ohio woman was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading no contest to faking a care diagnosis for her 4-year-old son.

Emily Creno of Utica apologized in the courtroom and told the judge her behavior was out of character and that she was praying for the court to give her a second chance.

The 31-year-old Creno entered the no contest plea to child endangerment and theft on Tuesday in a Licking County courtroom.

Judge Thomas Marcelain then sentenced her to 18 months in prison, with credit for the time she’s been behind bars since her arrest last May.

Authorities allege Creno shaved her son’s head in a scheme that convinced him and others he was dying and bilked people out of donations.
