Notre Dame's Tuitt goes to Pittsburgh

Former Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers with the No. 46 pick in the NFL draft Friday.

Tuitt was the second former Irish player selected in the draft, joining Zack Martin who went to the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 16 pick Thursday.

The 6-foot-5, 304-pounder had 127 tackles with 25 for loss and 21 ½ sacks in three seasons with Notre Dame.

“Stephon Tuitt love his physicality,” ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said. “When he is where he needs to be from a weight standout point, he is a dynamic big man. It’s a rarity to see a kid his size that can do the things he can do on the football field.”
