Eagles pitcher loses despite no-no

Churubusco’s Devin Peters pitched a no-hitter but still came out on the losing end as the Eagles fell 1-0 to host New Haven.

Churubusco had outhit the Bulldogs 5-0, but it committed two errors and Peters walked one in the loss.

Garett Simmons hit a three-run homer in the second game to lead Churubusco 8-2 over the Bulldogs.

CARROLL 4, WESTERN 3: At the Plymouth Invitational, the Chargers opened with three runs in the first inning. Cory McCray went 1 for 3 and scored two runs to lead the offense.

HOMESTEAD 4-7, SNIDER 0-2: At Snider, Tyler Zimske went 2 for 3 and hit a two run homer, and Brady Sheehan went 2 for 3 and scored two runs to lead the Spartans.

DJ Moore struck out seven batters over five innings in the second game.

SOUTH ADAMS 17, CENTRAL NOBLE 16: At the Starfire Invitational, Chandler Ingle hit a single with the bases loaded to bring in the winning run in the seventh.

CANTERBURY 11-12, SOUTH SIDE 1-2: At Canterbury, the Cavaliers had 31 hits in the double-header.

Softball

LAKEWOOD PARK 4-5, HOMESTEAD 0-2: At Lakewood Park, Jacyln Delagrange hit two home runs, went 3 for 3 and had 4 RBI in the first game.

Chloe McRobbie went 2 for 2 and scored three runs to lead the Panthers in the second game.

CARROLL 2, MARTINSVILLE 1: At the Plainfield Tournament, Katy Geubard struck out nine in the Chargers’ 8-inning win.

CARROLL 5, PLAINFIELD 3: At the Plainfield Tournament, Emily Catanzarite went 3 for 4, scored 2 runs and had an RBI to lead Carroll.

BISHOP DWENGER 15, MANCHESTER 1: At the Garrett Invitational, Demitra Burns hit a home run and struck out eight as eight of nine Saints players scored runs in the win.

BISHOP DWENGER 2, GARRETT 1: At the Garrett Invitational, the Saints scored two in the third and held on as they out-hit the Railroaders 8-2.

Tennis

ACAC TOURNAMENT: At Adams Central, Leo’s Jen Timbrook took the tournament singles title by defeating teammate Annya Mohlman 6-2, 6-2.

Leo’s team of Seven Weiland and Abbey Keele took the doubles title defeating Adams Central’s Abby Snyder and Katie Carroll.

Leo took the team title going 3-0 as determined by dual round robin matches.

HUNTINGTON NORTH 3, RICHMOND 2: At Huntington North, the Vikings’ Emily Eherenman defeated Kaitlin Kramer 7-5, 6-3 to earn the lone singles win Huntington North swept both doubles matches.
