Carroll Road opens after yearlong work

A one-mile section of Carroll Road just east of U.S. 33 that has been closed for the past year because of bridge work has reopened. The $1.2 million project, which included improvements to two bridges, was finished by the Allen County Highway Department on Wednesday.

The bridge over the Martin Johnson Ditch was replaced with a 68-foot, three-span concrete slab bridge. The bridge over the Geller Ditch was widened to 41 feet and rehabilitated with new concrete beams and deck on the existing span.

Seeding and landscaping work will be done with Carroll Road opened to traffic and is expected to be completed in a couple of weeks, weather permitting.
