Metals plant open in aftermath of fire

Production at Fort Wayne Metals will not be affected by a minor fire there Sunday, the company announced Monday.

The fire, which began about 4 a.m. at the company’s plant at 3618 Ferguson Road, was extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.

The company announced preliminary results point to two failed sensors as being the cause. The sensors caused a tank to overheat, partially melt and then smolder, the company said.
