Northrop student detained for knife

A Northrop High School student found himself locked up in juvenile detention over the weekend after being found with a knife.

The student, who was not identified in a Fort Wayne police report, was also accused of calling another male student gay for having pink hair and threatening him with the knife.

The altercation between the students occurred Friday during a fire drill, according to the police report.

The student who was ultimately arrested claimed he was joking around and did not mean anything seriously, but he also admitted to showing the other student the knife.

Asked why he had a knife on him, the student told police he forgot it was in his pants pocket from the weekend – even though it was a Friday.
