Notre Dame selling sections of grass

Notre Dame is selling sections of grass from its football stadium as it prepares to transition to FieldTurf.

The university announced that two-foot-by-five-foot sections of grass from the stadium can be purchased this week for $149.95, which includes two-day shipping and a certificate of authenticity.

Details on how to purchase sod from the stadium can be found at

The sections of grass will be removed today and shipped Wednesday.

Athletic director Jack Swarbrick announced the transition to FieldTurf during the Blue-Gold Game on April 12.

Notre Dame had to replace the grass at the stadium four times last year, including twice during the season.

The move to FieldTurf is expected to be completed by Aug. 15, and Swarbrick said the change could allow the stadium to be used for more events.
