Send-off celebration set for spelling bee champ

Lutheran South Unity School has scheduled a send-off celebration Friday for seventh-grader Lwin Moe Aung, who is headed to Washington, D.C., to compete in the 2014 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee.

He won The Journal Gazette’s annual Regional Spelling Bee in March. The bee is presented by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives in partnership with Barrett & McNagny.

The celebration is 2:45 at the school, 5401 S. Calhoun St., and is open to the public.
