High school roundup: Dwenger wins tennis sectional

– Bishop Dwenger defeated Concordia 4-1 in the Concordia tennis sectional championship match.

Abbie Grace Lee remained undefeated at No. 1 for the Saints, defeating Madison Nichols in the final 6-3, 6-2.

Bishop Dwenger’s No. 1 doubles team, Audrey Range and Lynelle Lee, defeated Carolynn Stouder and Lauren Sgro 6-0, 6-1 in the final.

Concordia’s point came from the No. 2 doubles team of Samantha Berning and Christine Wright.

They defeated Lena Lazoff and Claudia Barbieri 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.

Bishop Dwenger advances to the Homestead regional, where it will face Canterbury.

Baseball

CANTERBURY 9, HAMILTON 1: At Hamilton, Matt Kent struck out 16 and allowed two hits during the Cavaliers’ win over the Marines.

BISHOP DWENGER 13-8, COLUMBIA CITY 10-4: At Columbia City, the two teams combined for 28 hits in the first game. Justin Wagoner led the Saints going 3 for 4, scoring twice and had three RBI. Zac Steinke led the Eagles going 3 for 4, scoring three runs and driving in three. Cameron Kahlenbeck scored three runs and had two RBI for the Saints in the second game.

WEST NOBLE 6-2, GARRETT 5-7: At Garrett, West Noble scored the final run in the 10th inning to secure the victory in the first game.

Golf

SAC TOURNAMENT: At Brookwood, Bishop Dwenger took the top spot shooting 294. The Saints’ Callahan Elzey and Spencer Gillig took the top two spots shooting 69 and 71, respectively.

Softball

LAKEWOOD PARK 12-11, NORTHROP 0-2: At Northrop, Mikeila Boroff pitched six innings, allowed zero hits and struck out 14 and Hannah Priskorn went 5 for 5, scored three and had two RBI for the Panthers in the first game. Priskorn went 4 for 5 in the second game.
