School officials in hot water after senior prank

SMITHVILLE, Ohio – School administrators in northeastern Ohio are apologizing for allowing a senior prank that they say got out of hand.

The school decided to allow seniors to spray paint their names inside Smithville High School because it’s being torn down after the school year ends.

But the principal and superintendent said some students went too far, writing vulgar words on the walls and spray painting in areas that were supposed to be off-limits.

Some parents and former students in the village about 40 miles south of Cleveland are upset to see the school defaced.

School administrators said in a letter sent to the community that they were sorry that memories of the school might be tarnished because of the senior class’ final act.
