A day after being assigned to the TinCaps by the San Diego Padres, starter Ronald Herrera went 6 2/3 innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, while striking out five and walking one.
Herrera was acquired from Oakland on Wednesday, completing the May 15 trade in which the Padres sent Kyle Blanks to the A’s for Jake Goebbert.
After Genison Reyes pitched one inning for the TinCaps on Friday, Wilson Santos was handed a blown save and the loss by allowing four runs on three hits, while striking out one and walking one.
Fort Wayne’s Dane Phillips was 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
Bowling Green’s Granden Goetzman was 3 for 4 with a double and three runs.
