Statement as issued Tuesday by Parkview Health:
Fort Wayne, Ind. – June 3, 2014 – In its 11th year, sponsors and attendees of Parkview Foundation’s annual Cookin’ Men event raised more than $100,000 to support women’s health. This marks a milestone with the most funds raised at a single Cookin’ Men event. These funds will help provide mammograms and diagnostic testing for uninsured and under-insured women through Parkview’s partnership with Francine’s Friends Mobile Mammography program.
Volunteer chefs, attendees and sponsors comprised the nearly 1,500 individuals who attended the annual fundraiser, bidding on silent auction items and donating to the cause.
“The local generosity that manifests itself through Cookin’ Men each year is truly inspiring,” said Reneta Thurairatnam, event committee co-chair, Cookin’ Men. “The support from companies, volunteers, and individuals who make this evening a reality has touched and will continue to touch the lives of countless women throughout our community.”
Several local men also celebrated their 10th year of serving as volunteer Cookin’ Men Chefs by joining the Cookin’ Men Chef Hall of Fame. These men included: Dan Copeland, Ben Eisbart, Wayne Shive, Zohrab Tazian, Bob Walters and Rick Wolf. Every year, these men and countless others donate the ingredients for their unique dishes, in addition to their time in preparing and serving the food.
“The creative flare of our chefs is what attracts our community to become philanthropists through this event,” said Alexis Kuhne, events and donor relations manager, Parkview Foundation. “Cookin’ Men would not be what it is today without our chefs’ generosity and commitment to supporting women’s health in our community year after year.”
The 2015 event is slated for April 25, 2015. Tickets will be available to purchase February 25, 2015 at www.Parkview.com/CookinMen.
