Victim of overnight accident identified

A Fort Wayne man has been identified as the victim of an overnight accident in which a car struck him while he was lying on a city street.

Jabaar R. Wilcox, 30, died from blunt-force trauma in the crash late Thursday, the Allen County coroner's office said today.

Police have said the victim was lying in the 2800 block of East Pontiac Street about 11 p.m. when he was struck by a car headed west. The driver of the car stopped and waited for police to arrive, they said.

Wilcox is the eighth traffic fatality in the city and county during 2014, the coroner's office said in a statement.

City police, the coroner's office and the FACT Team are investigating, the statement said.
