Head-on crash kills 1 on US 33

A Fort Wayne man died Saturday after a head-on crash on U.S. 33 in northwest Ohio.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reported that the call came in at 11:47 a.m. about the collision between Palmer Road and U.S. 127.

The initial investigation indicates that Adam Hamilton, 26, of Fort Wayne, was driving west in a 2013 Nissan and attempted to pass a semi, according to a statement issued by the sheriff’s department. Hamilton and Joshua Angel, 35, also of Fort Wayne, tried to avoid a collision but struck head on in the ditch.

Angel, in a 2003 Volvo, was in the car with his wife, Christine age 34, and three children, Ellijah, 4, Jonah, 5, and Isaac 8.

All of the adults were flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne hospital, the sheriff said, and Hamilton died of his injuries about 4:30 p.m. Christine and Joshua Angel were listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon.

Their children, who are 4, 5, and 8, were treated and released, according to the Associated Press.
