A Fort Wayne woman in an Indiana 9 crash is accused of driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident and getting into a home while the homeowner was asleep.
The Noble County Sheriff Department got a call shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday after a single-vehicle crash near River Road outside Albion. The caller said a bloodied female was running from the accident scene.
Officers from the sheriff’s department and the Albion Police Department found a green Isuzu Rodeo that had struck a guardrail and flipped over on its side, but no one was inside. They soon located the woman hiding behind a garbage can at a residence on South Orange Street in Albion. She was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.
The sheriff’s department said the woman had entered a home on South Orange Street and woke the homeowner, pleading for help to evade arrest. The homeowner did not know the woman and made her leave immediately.
Charges are expected to be sent to the Noble County Prosecutor’s Office for review, the sheriff’s department said. The Journal Gazette is not naming the woman because she had not yet been charged.
