Fake money used to buy fireworks

A Fort Wayne fireworks store employee told police a man paid for $1,300 in fireworks with counterfeit money.

The employee at Southern Thunder Fireworks, 4122 Lima Road in Glenbrook Square Commons, told police that when the man handed her a stack of $20 bills to pay for the fireworks on Wednesday, something didn’t feel right, but she went ahead with the sale.

It was not until a few minutes after the man left that the employee called police.

She described the customer as being between 20 and 30 years old, black, about 6 feet tall and between 180 and 200 pounds. He had a long goatee and was wearing a white shirt, black pants, white socks and black sandals. He was picked up by someone in an early 2000s black Dodge Durango, according to the report.
